Jo Jin-ho is also known by the stage name Jinho. He is a South Korean singer, lyricist, dancer, composer, vocal coach, and member of the Cube Entertainment boy group Pentagon. He is a former SM Entertainment trainee and member of the SM the Ballad project group. Jinho became a vocal coach after leaving SM Entertainment in 2015. He has trained Cube labelmates (G)I-dle and Yoo Seon-ho, among others, since then.

Jinho was born on April 17, 1992 in Bucheon, South Korea. His family relocated to Daejeon when he was seven years old. He moved to Seoul at the age of 15 after spending eight months in Qingdao, China, due to family and work obligations.

After seeing Brian McKnight and Johan Kim perform a duet of McKnight’s “One Last Cry,” he decided to pursue a career as a singer.

2008–2014: Everysing win and SM the Ballad:

Jinho took first place in the SM Everysing Contest in 2008. In the same year, he was hired as a trainee through SM Entertainment’s casting system.

Jinho debuted as a member of SM the Ballad in November 2010 as Jino, alongside Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, Shinee’s Jonghyun, and TraxX’s Jay. The group received a positive response, and their debut EP Miss You peaked at number one on the Gaon Album Chart. He was then preparing to make his debut in another group, but plans fell through, and the group was never formed. He was cast in the musical Summer Snow in 2013.

2015–present: Departing SM Entertainment, debut with Pentagon and musical roles:

Jinho left SM Entertainment in 2015 to collaborate as a singing tutor at Modern K Academy. Jinho was encouraged to audition at Cube by Modern K Academy’s CEO, who has close ties to Cube Entertainment and was instrumental in the creation of Pentagon, where he is in charge of talent development. In February, he was a member of Seorin-dong Children, a vocal project group with Hui and another female singer. They released a remake of the 1994 classic “For All the New Lovers” by Lee Won-jin [ko] and Ryu Keum-deok. The team wasn’t supposed to be made up of them, but after Cube Artist Development received a positive response to the recorded guide, the company decided to release it on streaming sites. In February 2016, Jinho appeared as Mush in K.Shin’s song “Perception,” alongside Hwang Sung-dae.

Jinho made it through the audition process and joined Pentagon Maker, making it to the final lineup and making his debut with the group on October 10, 2016.

Jinho began a personal project titled “Magazine Ho” in 2017, releasing covers in different genres and languages on the last day of each month. He has collaborated with and featured with artists such as CLC’s Sorn, (G)I-Jeon dle’s So-yeon, HYNN, and bandmates Hongseok, Shinwon, Hui, Kino, and Yeo One on this project.

Jinho hosted his first mini live concert as part of his Magazine Ho cover songs project on March 17, 2018.

Jinho was cast as Raul, the son of Athos who admires his father and aspires to be a royal general, in the musical Iron Mask in September. The musical was performed at the Kwanglim Art Center in Seoul from September 13 to November 18. He shared the role with Shin Hyun-mook, a musical actor, and Yoo Hyun-seok, an actor.

Cube revealed on December 17, 2018, that his second mini-live concert “Magazine Ho Vol.2 – Ready Ho” would take place on January 19, 2019 at Ilchi Art Hall, and it sold out in seconds. Members Hongseok and Kino attended the concert as special guests.

Jinho was cast in his fourth musical, Goddess is Watching You. He portrayed Ryu Soon Ho, an innocent and pure North Korean soldier who overcomes his war trauma through faith in a goddess. The musical was performed at the Daehangno Arts Theater in Seoul from November 14, 2019 to February 26, 2020.

On January 11, 2020, Jinho hosted his third solo mini-live concert, “Magazine Ho Vol.3 – Off Stage.” Cube Entertainment added an extra date to the concert due to high demand from fans. Jinho will begin the first performance on January 10 in order to meet more fans. He performed an unreleased song, “Gravity,” with member Kino, which Kino composed and wrote. Special guests included members Hui, Hongseok, and Yeo One. Jinho appeared on Mnet’s music talk show Studio Music Hall 2 in March. He was introduced as the “high note terminator,” and he and Hui performed a duet of Kim Kwang-“At seok’s About Thirty.”
