Kelcy Warren is the Chairman and CEO of Energy Transfer Partners. He was born on November 5, 1955, in Gladewater, Texas, United States. The name of his parents is Hugh Brinson Warren and Bertie Lee Kirby. He is the youngest of their four sons. Warren’s father served as a field hand for Sun Pipeline, which he now owns. White Oak High School was Warren’s alma mater.
In 1978, he graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Warren married former Sherry Johnson in Dallas on May 18, 1980, and the couple divorced in 1991. On June 3, 2010, he married Amy Hudson in Dallas. Klyde Warren is his only child.
He began his career as an employee of the Lone Star Gas Company. He served for Endevco from 1981 to 1992. From 1989 to 1990, he was executive vice president of Cornerstone Natural Gas, and from 1993 to 1996, he was president and CEO.
Since 2007, he has served as co-chairman and co-CEO of Energy Transfer Partners. He is also a member of ETP Enogex Partners LLC’s advisory board, co-CEO of ETC OLP, and co-CEO and co-chairman of La Grange Energy and US Propane LLC. He was a co-chairman of Le Gp, OEC Compression, in the past.
He was on the board of directors of Crosstex Energy from 1996 to 2000. He is a member of the University of Texas at Arlington’s Advisory Board. As a real estate investment, he purchased the bankrupt Lajitas Resorts in Lajitas, Texas, in 2007.
Warren is the President and Chairman of the Board of the Roatan Electric Company (RECO), which he acquired in 2008. RECO put $7 million into a wind farm that was supposed to be finished in 2017.
Warren is now the chairman of Energy Transfer Equity’s general partner. Warren co-founded the companies that bought and controlled the midstream natural gas pipelines that were contributed to the transaction prior to the merger of ETP and Heritage Propane in 2004.
Warren was a director of Crosstex Energy, Inc. from 1996 to 2000, and president, chief executive officer, and director of Cornerstone Natural Gas, Inc. from 1993 to 1996. Warren has over 25 years of experience working in the oil sector.
