Today I will tell you about HOW TO CONTACT TED TURNER?
Ted Turner is a Media proprietor, Producer, and philanthropist in the United States. He is best known as the founder of CNN, the first 24-hour cable news channel. He also created WTBS, which was the first superstation of cable television and later became TBS.
Turner was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on November 19, 1938. His family relocated to Savannah, Georgia, when he was nine years old. He went to Chattanooga’s McCallie Academy, a private boys’ preparatory school. Turner was a member of Brown University’s sailing team and served as vice-president of the Brown Debating Union. He joined Kappa Sigma.
Turner’s father wrote that he was “appalled, perhaps shocked” by his son’s decision and that he “almost puked.” Turner then changed his major to economics, but he was expelled before completing his degree because he had a female student in his dorm room. Turner earned an honorary B.A. from Brown University in November 1989 after returning to campus to deliver the keynote speech at the National Association of College Broadcasters’ second annual meeting.
Turner has three wives: Judy Nye (1960–64), Jane Shirley Smith (1965–88), and actress Jane Fonda (1991–2001). He is the father of five kids. Turner admitted to having four girlfriends in a television interview with Piers Morgan on May 3, 2012, saying that while it was difficult, it was also better than getting married.
Turner was president and CEO of the company when he was just 24, Turner took control of it and began building it into a worldwide concern. According to It Ain’t as Easy as It Seems, he followed the Young Republicans because he “felt at home with these budding conservatives and was just following in far-right footsteps.”
After being kicked out of university, he entered his father’s business. His father appointed him to the position of assistant manager of Turner Advertising’s Atlanta office. His corporation had amassed massive debts, and the stress had a negative impact on his father’s health.
Ted’s father committed suicide in 1963, suffering from bipolar illness and unable to cope with the financial pressures, leaving Ted, just 24, in control of the indebted business. Ted poured himself into the work to cope with his loss and to further his dreams. The corporation quickly paid off its loans and began to make a profit. His business had expanded significantly by the late 1960s.
He moved into television after struggling with radio stations and bought a failed UHF station in Atlanta. Turner Communications was established, and the station was renamed WTCG. Initially, he used the station to broadcast old films and cartoons.
By the mid-1970s, the FCC had changed its rules to allow cable television providers to broadcast programming from distant stations. The WTCG-TV Superstation began broadcasting classic movies, sitcom reruns, cartoons, and sports specials to subscribers around the country in 1976. His channel’s popularity expanded rapidly, and he quickly had 2 million subscribers and a net worth of $100 million.
Turner Broadcasting System and WTCG were renamed WTBS in the late 1970s. In order to provide programming for WTBS, he also owned the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Hawks by this time.
In 1980, he embarked on his most daring mission. He founded a 24-hour news channel. While media practitioners chastised him at the time, he went on with the Cable News Network (CNN). Within five years, the network had made a big profit and had grown to cover CNN Radio and CNN International.
Turner turned several small- to medium-sized businesses into successful medium and large corporations in the 1980s and 1990s, including Turner Entertainment in 1986 and the year it became a small-to-big network and Turner Classic Movies in the year the Turner network launched in 1992.
He created the Better World Society in 1985 to support nuclear disarmament and the Turner Foundation in 1990 to support environmental activities. He’s also a member of the United Nations Association.
