Mark Lee is also known as Mark. He is a Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter who currently resides in South Korea. He is a representative of the South Korean boy band NCT, as well as its subunits NCT U, NCT 127, and NCT Dream. Mark made his debut in April 2016 as a member of the rotational unit NCT U before joining the fixed unit NCT 127 in Seoul in July 2016 and becoming the head of NCT Dream in August 2016. Career:

2013–2015: SM Rookies

After passing the SM Global Audition in Canada in 2010, Mark entered SM Entertainment in 2012. In December of the following year, he was presented as a member of SM Rookies, a pre-debut training team managed by SM Entertainment. In 2014, he emerged as part of the SM Rookies program on Exo 90:2014, a reality TV show starring Exo, where he performed songs and recreated music videos of eminent 90s K-pop idols. In 2015, Mark emerged as a Mouseketeer on Disney Channel Korea’s The Mickey Mouse Club, alongside other SM Rookies program participants. Leeteuk of Super Junior organized the show, which aired from July 23 to December 17.

2016–present: NCT and solo endeavors

Mark and five other members of SM Rookies—Taeyong, Doyoung, Ten, and Jaehyun—debuted as members of NCT’s first subgroup, NCT U, in April 2016. On April 9, they released their first digital single, “The 7th Sense,” in which he and Taeyong collaborated on songwriting. Three months later, SM declared that Mark would be joining Taeyong, Taeil, Yuta, Jaehyun, Winwin, and Haechan in NCT’s second subgroup, NCT 127. On July 10, 2016, NCT 127 made their official debut with the extended play NCT #127 and title track “Fire Truck.”

Mark became a member of NCT’s third subgroup, NCT Dream, which included Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung. On August 24, 2016, the group made its official debut with the single “Chewing Gum.” Mark appeared on Henry Lau’s “Going Through Your Heart,” an original soundtrack for the KBS drama Sweet Stranger and Me, the following month. This was his first solo project since making his NCT debut.

Mark joined High School Rapper, a survival hip hop reality TV show that aired on Mnet in January 2017. He made it to the finals, where he performed an original song, “Drop,” with labelmate Seulgi of Red Velvet, and finished seventh overall. Mark teamed up with Exo’s Xiumin on the single “Young & Free” in July 2017. It was made available as part of Season 2 of SM Entertainment’s digital music project SM Station. Mark appeared in the first season of the music variety show Snowball Project the same month. On July 21, he collaborated with Park Jae-Jung to release “Lemonade Love,” also through SM Station, which was produced by former labelmates Henry Lau and Yoon Jong-shin.

Mark began serving as one of the primary emcees of the music program Show! Music Core in February 2018; he left the program in January 2019 to concentrate on activities with NCT 127. In May 2018, he joined the cast of the MBC reality show It’s Dangerous Beyond The Blankets is a regular. Mark released the song “Dream Me” with Red Velvet’s Joy for the soundtrack of the KBS drama The Ghost Detective in October 2018. On December 31, 2018, Mark became the first member to officially graduate from NCT Dream, though he would later reenter the group in April 2020 after its age-based graduation system was eradicated.

Mark was revealed as a member of SuperM, a “K-pop supergroup” formed by SM Entertainment in partnership with Capitol Records, on August 7, 2019. In October of that year, the group started promoting in the American music market. SuperM’s self-titled debut EP, led by the single “Jopping,” was released on October 4, 2019. Mark promoted SuperM throughout 2020, resulting in the release of the group’s first full-length studio album, Super One.
