Robert Bass is a famous businessman. He was the chairman of Aerion Corporation, a Reno, Nevada-based aerospace company. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1948. Perry Richardson Bass, his father, was a businessman, philanthropist, and sailor. Nancy Lee Bass, his mother, was a philanthropist. Lee Marshall Bass, Ed Bass, and Sid Bass are his three brothers. Sid Richardson is his uncle.
Bass graduated from Yale University with a bachelor’s degree in humanities. He graduated from Stanford Graduate School of Business with a master’s degree in business management. Bass is the husband of Anne T. Bass. They are the parents of four children.
Bass is the president of Keystone, Inc. as well. In 1986, he formed Oak Hill Capital Partners. He and other TFBA Limited Partnership owners purchased and took private Taft Broadcasting for $1.43 billion in April 1987.
Bass sold the Plaza Hotel to Donald Trump in March 1988, thanks to common acquaintance Thomas J. Barrack Jr. He oversaw the purchase of Bell & Howell. He made an offer to buy Macmillan Inc., a publishing and knowledge firm, in June 1988, but the company restructured in response. Bass was formerly the Chairman of the Board of Aerion Supersonic, a company that develops supersonic commercial jets. Following the declaration of a relationship between Boeing and Aerion on February 5, 2019, Bass was replaced as Chairman by Tom Vice.
