Robert Rowling is a famous businessman. He is the founder of TRT Holdings, which owns Omni Hotels and Gold’s Gym. He was born in the United States, in the city of Corpus Christi, in the year 1953. Rowling has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a doctorate in law from Southern University.
He is married to Terry Hennersdorf Rowling. They live in Dallas, Texas, with their two daughters. They met at the University of Texas at Austin, where they were both pursuing bachelor’s degrees in accounting.
Rowling started working for Tana Oil and Gas, which he and his father, Reese Rowling, owned along with William E Colson. Texaco purchased Tana for $476 million in 1989, securing funds for the creation of TRT Holdings. Rowling purchased six resorts from KSL Resorts in July 2013, including The Homestead 1766 in Hot Springs, Virginia.
Until February 2009, Rowling was a member of the University of Texas System’s Board of Regents. He quit due to a dispute over compensation paid to UTIMCO investing workers. Rowling resigned at a Texas Senate Finance Committee meeting, unable to sever the contracts and disgusted with their grandstanding. He followed up with a written letter of resignation the next day.
