Shane Robert Watson is an Australian former cricketer who played international cricket between 2002 and 2016. He is a right-handed batsman and right-handed fast-medium swing bowler.

Watson has a number of records in T20Is, ODIs, and T20s. Between 2011 and 2015, Watson was the highest-paid non-Indian cricketer in the world, according to Forbes.

Watson was shortlisted for his first Australian team in early 2002, touring South Africa with the Test team after topping the Pura Cup wicket-taking charts for Tasmania and putting in consistent middle-order batting performances. Watson did make his ODI debut on tour, taking over for Steve Waugh, who was fired after the team failed to make the ODI finals the previous summer in Australia. Watson remained a regular member of the ODI team until he suffered three stress fractures in his back at the beginning of 2003, causing him to miss the 2003 Cricket World Cup.
