YS Sharmila

Yeduguri Sandinti Sharmila Reddy is an Indian politician who was born in 1974. She is also known as Y. S. Sharmila, and she is the founder and president of the YSR Telangana Party. She goes by the name Y. S. Sharmila. She is the daughter of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Y. S. Vijayamma and is the younger sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. She was employed by the YSR Congress Party as the party convener for a while.

In June 2012, Sharmila made news when she began campaigning for the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Andhra Pradesh with her mother, Y. S. Vijayamma. This was done in the absence of Sharmila’s older brother, Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, who was campaigning for the same party at the same time. The YSRCP was successful in winning 15 of the 18 assembly seats and one of the seats in Parliament that was up for election in the by-elections.

On October 18, 2012, Sharmila started her walkathon of 3,000 kilometers (1,900 miles) in Idupulapaya, which is located in the Kadapa district. It was on August 4, 2013, at Ichchapuram, when she finished it. As part of the walkathon, she went around to all 14 districts. Sharmila went on an 11-day bus Yatra throughout the state of Andhra Pradesh before the election for the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 2019. The busses she rode in were branded with a “Bye Bye Babu” timed clock, implying that it was time for the then-chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to step down from his position.

The campaign, which was known as “Praja Theerpu – Bye Bye Babu,” extended across a distance of 1,553 kilometers (965 miles) and included 39 different public addresses. In addition to that, she distributed approximately 20,000 signed baseball hats. In February of 2021, Sharmila said that she and her brother, Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is the founder of the Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party, had political disagreements. She also claimed that the party did not have a presence in the state of Telangana.

Sharmila announced that she will be launching a new political party in Telangana on the 8th of July 2021 on the 9th of April 2021. She chose that day since it was the same day that her father, Rajasekhara Reddy, was born. She has begun her campaign against the current administration, which is led by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). This is being done in advance of the party’s inauguration. She made the announcement on the 8th of July, 2021 on the establishment of the YSR Telangana Party.

In November 2023, Y.S. Sharmila announced that her party would not be running candidates in the next election for the Telangana Legislative Assembly. This declaration was made by her to the media in Hyderabad when she was there for a certain function. Sharmila recognized the electoral potential for the Congress party and emphasized that their goal was not to undermine the Congress but rather to offer support if the Congress were to take power, assuring the effective execution of their ideas. She also said that their goal was not to destroy the Congress party.

Sharmila was born in Hyderabad to Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Vijayamma Reddy, both of whom came from prominent political and economic families. She is a mother of two kids. Sharmila’s older brother, Jagan Mohan Reddy, is now serving as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in his role as Chief Minister. Her place of residence is in Hyderabad. According to India Today. in’s sources, YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) head YS Sharmila plans to run for election in both the Paleru and Miryalaguda seats in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections on November 30. These elections will take place in the state of Telangana.

According to our sources, the party plans to run candidates for every one of the state’s 119 assembly seats. Earlier, there was talk of the possibility of the YSRTP joining forces with the Congress to run in the next Assembly election. Sharmila is the sister of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who serves as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and is also the Chief of the YSR Congress (YSRCP).On the birth anniversary of her father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who was better known as YSR, Sharmila launched the YSRTP on July 8, 2021. At the time, her father was serving as the Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh.

On Friday, the leader of the YSRTP, YS Sharmila, stated that her party would give its unqualified support to the Congress in the forthcoming elections to the Telangana assembly, which are scheduled to take place on November 30. Sharmila, the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, made the announcement a few days ago, after a snub from the Congress party, that her party will run independently in the next elections. It is believed that the Congress party has a shot at winning the election, but the removal of KCR as governor would be complicated by any fragmentation of the anti-KCR vote at this time. The BRS is expected to lose the election shortly.

“It is established, according to many surveys and ground reports, that our participation in the Assembly elections will directly impact the vote share of Congress in many constituencies,” Sharmila stated in a letter to Rahul Gandhi, who is the head of the Congress party and the MP for the Waynad constituency. Earlier, she had made a presentation to Congress in which she suggested that her party should combine. It has been learned, however, that discussions between the two parties had not progressed at all and that the ECI had already set the calendar for the elections.

In a gathering that took place one month ago, Sharmila informed her fellow party members of her decision to pursue this course of action on her own. Rumors were circulating that she would run for office herself, maybe representing the Palair part of the Khammam district. She had also informed the leaders of the party that there was a recommendation that she compete from another seat as well and that she would decide this matter shortly. There was also talk about the possibility of her evangelist husband Brother Anil Kumar and her mother YS Vijayalakshmi running for office as well.

On July 8, 2021, Sharmila launched the YSRTP, which also happened to be the birth anniversary of her father, YS Rajasekhar Reddy, who served as chief minister. She had also embarked on a pada yatra in the state of Telangana under the banner of bringing about the ‘Rajanna Rajyam’ of the welfare state, during which she was detained by the Telangana police on many occasions. Despite this, she was unable to elicit the appropriate reaction from the people.

On Friday, Y S Sharmila, the head of the YSR Telangana Party and the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, announced that her party will not run candidates in the next assembly elections in Telangana but would instead lend its support to the Congress party. On Friday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) started the process of formally issuing a gazette notice, which marked the beginning of the nomination process for the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

The deadline for submitting nomination papers in each of the 119 seats is set for the 10th of November. The nominations will be reviewed on November 13, and contenders have until November 15 to remove their names from consideration. The elections will take place on November 30, and the results will be announced on December 3, along with those of the other four states (Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan) that will also be voting.

On Friday morning, Sharmila gave an interview to the media at her home in Lotus Pond. In the interview, she said that she had chosen to withdraw from the contest for the Telangana assembly elections to prevent a split in the vote of those who support the Congress party. Sharmila said that in light of the disclosures about corruption and poor governance, it was necessary for all parties that share similar ideals to collaborate to serve the people of Telangana in the most beneficial way possible.

Since May, Sharmila has had many rounds of talks with the senior leaders of the Congress party, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, during which she has recommended that her party combine with the Congress party. In response, she said that she would be interested in running for assembly in the Khammam district from the Palair constituency, in addition to attempting to get party tickets for a handful of her supporters.

Nevertheless, a YSRTP functionary who is acquainted with the issue said that the Congress high command had recommended that she abandon her intentions to run for election in Telangana and move to Andhra Pradesh to lead the party there. Despite this, she did not accept the proposal. Sharmila announced on October 10 that her party would go it alone in the Telangana elections and field candidates in all 119 seats since the Congress high command did not provide a good answer until the first week of October. This was even though they had promised a response.

In addition, she said that she would run for office from the Palair assembly seat and, if required, from a second constituency located somewhere in northern Telangana. Nevertheless, “binoculars” was selected to serve as the electoral emblem for her party by the ECI.In response to Sharmila’s speech, top BRS leader and State Finance Minister T Harish Rao said that the recent occurrence made it abundantly evident that all anti-Telangana forces were banding together to defeat the administration that was headed by KCR.

Kasani Gyaneshwar, the head of the TDP’s Telangana unit, resigned from the party on Wednesday and joined BRS on Friday because he was upset with the choice that Naidu had made. While the list of candidates for almost all of the constituencies has been released by the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, except Nampally and Goshamahal in Hyderabad, the Congress has not yet finalized candidates for 19 assembly seats, and the Bharatiya Janata Party has not yet selected candidates for 31 constituencies.
